PRESS COMMUNIQUÉ – 15 February 2018 Avenue d’Iena-President Wilson-Esplanade du Trocadéro
To the cries of “Iranian women say no to the headscarf, and so do we!”, feminist demonstrators bore witness this Thursday afternoon to their support for Iranian women who denounce the obligatory headscarf and are then imprisoned by the Islamic regime.
Not allowed to demonstrate in front of the Iranian Embassy, they all paraded down President Wilson Avenue to join the Esplanade of the Trocadero.
Just like the Iranian opponents, French and other demonstrators brandished white veils attached to sticks. Then to the sound of Iranian music, they improvised a dance in the center of which the veils were burned before the Eiffel Tower.
During the speeches, the names of imprisoned Iranian women were called out to the applause of the crowd.
